{"id":55,"date":"2025-07-07T09:55:38","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T09:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dobc.be\/?page_id=55"},"modified":"2026-04-16T14:20:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T14:20:12","slug":"eurjoc-kvcv-src-best-phd-thesis-prize","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dobc.be\/index.php\/awards\/eurjoc-kvcv-src-best-phd-thesis-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"EurJOC-KVCV-SRC Best PhD Thesis Prize\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">This PhD prize, sponsored by the <a href=\"https:\/\/chemistry-europe.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/journal\/10990690\">European Journal of Organic Chemistry<\/a> and the Divisions of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry of <a href=\"https:\/\/src.ulb.be\/\">SRC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kvcv.be\/\">KVCV<\/a>, is awarded annually and recognizes an outstanding and original contribution from a PhD student to organic and bioorganic chemistry. This prize, which consists of a certificate, a voucher from Wiley and 500 \u20ac to participate in a conference, will be delivered in 2026 during the Merck Organic Chemistry Symposium (MOCS) in Blankenberge (December 3 &amp; 4, 2026), which the candidate is expected to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants willing to apply for this award must have obtained their PhD from a Belgian university maximum 3 years before the closing date of the call for applications (i.e. not earlier than May 4, 2023 &#8211; with extension(s) corresponding to maternity or paternity leave(s)) and must be members of KVCV and\/or SRC at the time of the application. An external, international committee will be in charge of the evaluation of all applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Applications should be sent directly, before May 4, 2026, by the candidates to Annemieke Madder (<a href=\"mailto:Annemieke.Madder@UGent.be\">Annemieke.Madder@UGent.be<\/a>) and Gwilherm Evano (<a href=\"mailto:Gwilherm.Evano@ulb.be\">Gwilherm.Evano@ulb.be<\/a>) and must include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 a CV (including ORCID or ResearcherID identifiers) \u2013 2 pages maximum;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 a list of publications including a short mention of the contribution of the applicant to every manuscript published \u2013 2 pages maximum;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 a 4-page summary of the PhD thesis including a section highlighting the creativity and impact of the work in organic and bioorganic chemistry;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 proof of membership in SRC\/KVCV at the time of the application;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 a letter of support from the PhD supervisor(s);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 a copy of the PhD diploma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"690\" height=\"80\" src=\"https:\/\/dobc.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EurJOC.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-70\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dobc.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EurJOC.png 690w, https:\/\/dobc.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EurJOC-300x35.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This PhD prize, sponsored by the European Journal of Organic Chemistry and the Divisions of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry of SRC and KVCV, is awarded annually and recognizes an outstanding and original contribution from a PhD student to organic and bioorganic chemistry.
